Why do I want to be a wedding photographer?
I thought that it might be useful to start writing a series of blogs, covering various aspects of my wedding photography business. The obvious place to start for my first blog seems to be this: why do I want to be a wedding photographer?
Well, it really just comes down to the two words themselves, “wedding” and “photographer”!
Wedding...
Weddings are such amazing occasions, full of happiness, joy and love - how could you not enjoy them?!? Although they usually follow a fairly consistent running order, every wedding is completely unique and a beautiful expression of the couple getting married. It is a huge privilege to be tasked with the responsibility of documenting these days, and one that I do not take lightly - I do everything within my power to ensure that I am fully prepared to capture every memorable moment that occurs, providing the happy couple (and their families and friends) with images that instantly transport them back to the happiest day of their lives. That said, it’s not all hard work - weddings are fun places to be, and hardly the dullest of work places!
... Photographer
In terms of working as a photographer, it’s genuinely something that I’ve always dreamt of being able to do. I LOVE taking photos and using camera gear, and have done so ever since I was a young boy playing with the contents of my dad’s SLR camera bag - although modern digital tools mean that we no longer use film canisters and manual light meters, it definitely planted the seed for my lifelong love of photography! In the years since, I’ve used an assortment of cameras, lenses and accessories… all of which, I’m slightly embarrassed to admit, fill me with the same excitement that I felt all those years ago! For many years, I’ve taken a camera with me pretty much everywhere I’ve been, and wildlife photography has become my favourite hobby (if you’d like to see some of my non-wedding photos, please check out my other site, Wandering Eye). Since I’ve started shooting weddings, being able to earn an income from photography really does feel too good to be true - but I honestly believe that the enthusiasm and passion that I bring to it is something that every client benefits from.
So, that’s why I decided to become a wedding photographer, and it’s a decision that I haven’t regretted for a minute. If you’d like to see how I can bring my love of photography to your wedding (or engagement / anniversary shoot), please get in touch now as I’d love to hear from you!
